Job Summary

The graphic designer job description includes the entire process of defining requirements, visualizing and creating graphics including illustrations, layouts and photos. You’ll be the one to shape the visual aspects of websites, product packaging, labels, promotional materials and more.

Essential Duties

• working with clients, briefing and advising them with regard to design style, format, print production and timescales
• developing concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, labels, promotional materials, and websites.
• determining size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and font style and size
• preparing rough drafts of material based on an agreed brief
• reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required
• study design briefs and determine requirements
• Conceptualise visuals based on requirements
• Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
• Use the appropriate colors and layouts for each graphic
• Amend designs after feedback
• Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand

Required Qualifications

• Proven graphic designing experience
• A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
• Excellent IT skills and familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
• Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is a plus
• Exceptional creativity and innovation
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment
• Professional approach to time, costs and deadlines
